This North
Dakota Oil
and Gas pump
jack works
day and
night
extracting
the valuable
oil and gas
mineral
resources
found in the
Bakken
formation of
the
Williston
Basin in
western
North
Dakota.
Oil Pump
Jacks are
also know as
"pumping
units".
These
pumping
units pull
miles of
"sucker" rod
that is
rigged with
packers to
make a pump.
The
Williston
Basin Sweet
crude is
either
pumped into
tanks on
location to
be later
trucked to
the refinery
or into a
pipeline
that flows
to the oil
and gas
refinery.
Oil Pump
jacks are
powered with
electric
motors if
electricity
is
available,
if not, then
they run on
propane
powered
motors in
remote
locations.
ND Oil and
Gas wells
that aren't
on a
pipeline
have to be
visited on a
regular
basis by a "pumper".
This is
either an
oil company
employee or
an oil field
services
subcontractor.
This
individual
"gauges" the
tanks to
determine
how much oil
has been
produced and
inspects the
equipment to
determine
what oil
field
equipment
maintenance
needs to be
done. |
